DreamFolks Lounge Access: What It Is and How to Activate It

By CardTrail Research · · Editorial standards

As of 2026-09-14. Every number below was checked on this date against the issuer’s own page or its lounge terms PDF. Where a bank’s document is undated or does not render, we say so instead of guessing.

Short answer: DreamFolks is not a credit card. It is a Gurugram based company that, until 16 September 2025, ran the lounge entry system behind most Indian bank cards. On that date it told the stock exchanges that “the services of domestic airport lounges have been discontinued to our clients, effective today”. Your card’s lounge benefit did not vanish, but the bank now runs it through a different partner or through the Visa, Mastercard or RuPay lounge programmes. In most cases nothing needs “activating”: you swipe the card at the lounge desk and a ₹2 test charge confirms your entitlement. What has changed, and what catches most people out, is the spend rule you must meet in the previous quarter.

What DreamFolks is, and why your card mentions it

DreamFolks Services Limited is a listed company (BSE: 543591) that acts as an aggregator. Banks and card networks pay it to connect a card to a network of lounges, and the lounge validates your card on a DreamFolks terminal at the door. For years this was the plumbing behind “complimentary domestic lounge access” on cards from HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI Card, Axis Bank, Kotak, IDFC FIRST, AU and others. That is why old card brochures, bank FAQs and lounge signage still say “DreamFolks”.

On 16 September 2025 DreamFolks filed a business update with the NSE saying that domestic airport lounge services to its clients were discontinued with immediate effect, that the impact was material, and that its contracts with clients remained active for other services. Its website today advertises airport transfers, meet and assist, railway lounges, golf and wellness, and international lounge access. On the company’s Q1 FY27 earnings call reported on 14 August 2026 there was no announcement of a return to domestic lounge access. We found no filing since then that reverses the September 2025 decision.

So if you are searching for “the DreamFolks card”: there is no such credit card. If your bank card says “lounge access powered by DreamFolks”, that line is out of date for domestic lounges. The benefit now works the way your bank’s current lounge terms describe, and that is what the table below is built from.

Who runs your lounge access now

Each issuer moved differently. This is what their own documents say today.

How to activate lounge access on your card

For domestic lounges there is usually no activation step. What matters is that you have met the bank’s spend rule in the previous period and that the lounge is on your card’s list.

  1. Check that you have unlocked the quarter. Most banks now require spends in the previous calendar quarter (or previous three months for Axis, or previous month for IDFC FIRST). The thresholds are in the table below. HDFC and Axis state a waiver for new cards: HDFC for cards opened in the last month of a quarter, Axis for the issuance month plus the following 3 calendar months.
  2. Find your card’s lounge list. Each issuer publishes its own list and the lists differ by card tier (Axis and SBI Card use “Set A” and “Set B”). HDFC and AU point cardholders to lms.hoi.in, where you enter your mobile number, receive an OTP and register the card to see entitlements. Do not rely on the old DreamFolks lounge finder for domestic lounges.
  3. Carry the right documents. The physical card and a boarding pass. ICICI and IDFC FIRST accept a ticket or boarding pass for travel on the same or next day; the Axis, HDFC and IndusInd documents we read do not spell out a window, so carry a same day boarding pass to be safe.
  4. Swipe at the lounge desk. The lounge runs a small authorisation, typically ₹2 on Visa and RuPay and ₹25 on Mastercard (Axis and IndusInd state both figures). HDFC says the ₹2 is reversed; AU says its ₹2 is non reversible; ICICI, Axis and Kotak do not say either way in the documents we read. If the authorisation is declined you have not met the spend rule or the lounge is not on your list.
  5. International lounges are a separate benefit. Cards that offer them do so through Priority Pass (HDFC Infinia, ICICI Sapphiro, Kotak White, AU Zenith+, SBI Card ELITE and PRIME) or, for IDFC FIRST, through the DreamFolks portal. Priority Pass needs enrolment: SBI Card asks you to call its helpline, Kotak asks you to enable international transactions in its app first. IDFC FIRST cardholders log in at webaccess.dreamfolks.in (the address printed in the IDFC PDFs; it redirects to webaccess.dreamfolks.com) with mobile number and OTP, and some lounges need a booking up to 48 hours before travel.

Cards we could not verify well enough to include are listed under “What we could not verify” below.

Not yet verified: ICICI Bank Emeralde, Emeralde Private and Emirates Emeralde, and the MakeMyTrip ICICI cards, are all excluded from the ₹75,000 quarterly rule on ICICI’s “upcoming changes” page. But the ICICI Experience page names only Emeralde Private Metal, Diamant and Times Black as unlimited, and does not mention a non metal “Emeralde Private” card at all. Until we read each card’s key privileges page, their visit counts and add on eligibility are not shown.

Reading the table

  • “Per quarter” means calendar quarter (January to March, April to June, and so on). None of the documents we read mention carrying unused visits into the next quarter, so assume they lapse.
  • The spend rule is always about the period before the one in which you travel. Spending ₹75,000 this month does not open the lounge this month on an ICICI card; it opens April to June if the spend was in January to March.
  • Issuers count “retail spends” and exclude EMI conversions (HDFC) or count cash withdrawals in (IDFC FIRST). Read the issuer PDF for what counts.
  • Several banks tightened rules in 2026: HDFC Regalia Gold’s ₹60,000 rule from 1 July 2026, Kotak White’s ₹1,00,000 rule from 1 April 2026, IndusInd’s spend criteria from 1 April 2026, and Axis withdrew lounge access from Airtel Axis (12 April 2026) and Flipkart Axis (20 June 2025).

What we could not verify

We drop a card rather than print an old number. These were in the previous version of this page or are commonly asked about, and we could not confirm them from a primary source on 14 September 2026:

  • SBI Card ELITE and PRIME domestic visits. SBI Card’s product pages are script rendered and did not return content. The undated ELITE e-brochure says “Two complimentary access every quarter”, and the Priority Pass FAQ confirms 6 international visits a year for ELITE and 4 for PRIME (capped at 2 a quarter, international lounges only). SBI’s 10 January 2026 lounge PDF lists PRIME variants (PRIME, PRIME Pro, MILES PRIME and the co-brand PRIME cards) in Set A, with SELECT, OCTANE and Club Vistara cards in Set B, but the PDF does not print a visit count per set. Confirm in the SBI Card app before travelling.
  • IndusInd per card counts. IndusInd’s T&C says that from 1 April 2026 access is spend based, with ₹1,50,000 in April to June 2026 unlocking July to September 2026 as its example. The per card table (Indulge, Solitaire, Crest, Legacy, Pinnacle, Celesta) did not extract consistently and we will not print it until read directly.
  • IDFC FIRST Select and FIRST Classic. Product pages did not render; only Wealth and Mayura PDFs were readable.
  • Axis Atlas tier visits. The Axis lounge PDF confirms Atlas is exempt from the spend rule, but the Atlas privileges page did not render, so tier counts are not shown.
  • AU cards other than Zenith+. AU publishes two lounge T&C PDFs that disagree on the spend rule for its other cards: the one dated 28 November 2025 says ₹20,000 in a calendar quarter, the one linked from the Zenith+ page says ₹50,000 in net retail spends effective 10 April 2026. Both exempt Zenith+ (and Traverse). We show only Zenith+ until AU reconciles the two.
  • Annual fees for Infinia, Emeralde variants, Axis cards, Kotak White, IDFC FIRST cards. Not checked for this page.
  • Guest charges in rupees. No issuer document we read states a fixed rupee guest fee. The earlier “₹1,500 per guest” figure has been removed.
  • ICICI Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Emirates Emeralde and MakeMyTrip ICICI visit counts. Exempt from the ₹75,000 rule, but the visit count and add on eligibility are not stated on the two ICICI pages we read. See the note under the card table.
  • Lounge counts and airport coverage. No issuer document we read states a total lounge count. The Axis PDF lists lounges by set (11 entries under Set A, 20 under Set B, with heavy overlap between the two) but does not print a total. The “50+ lounges” figure and other counts on the previous page have been removed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the DreamFolks card? There is no DreamFolks credit card. DreamFolks is a services company that banks used to run lounge entry. If you saw “DreamFolks” on your card’s benefits page, it referred to the company validating your card at the lounge door. DreamFolks now sells its own paid memberships and services directly, but those are separate from any bank card benefit.

Does DreamFolks lounge access still work in 2026? Not for domestic Indian airport lounges through bank cards. DreamFolks told the exchanges on 16 September 2025 that domestic lounge services to its clients had been discontinued. Your bank’s lounge benefit continues through other arrangements. DreamFolks still handles some international lounge bookings, for example for IDFC FIRST Wealth and Mayura cardholders.

Does my ICICI card use DreamFolks? ICICI Bank’s current pages do not name any provider; they say the programme “is provided by a third party”. What matters for ICICI cardholders is the rule: spend ₹75,000 or more in the previous calendar quarter to unlock the next quarter, present the card with a same or next day boarding pass, and expect a ₹2 authorisation. Emeralde Private Metal, Diamant and Times Black have unlimited access with no spend condition. Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Emirates Emeralde and the MakeMyTrip ICICI cards are also exempt from the ₹75,000 rule, but ICICI’s pages do not state their visit count, so check your card’s key privileges page.

How do I activate lounge access on my credit card? For domestic lounges there is no switch to flip. Meet your bank’s spend rule in the previous quarter (or month), find the lounge on your card’s list, carry the physical card and a boarding pass, and let the lounge swipe the card. For Priority Pass you must enrol first through the bank. For IDFC FIRST global lounges, log in at webaccess.dreamfolks.in (the address in the IDFC PDFs, which redirects to webaccess.dreamfolks.com) with your mobile number and OTP.

Why was ₹2 (or ₹25) charged on my card at the lounge? That is the validation swipe. Banks use a small authorisation to confirm your entitlement in real time: ₹2 on Visa and RuPay, ₹25 on Mastercard at Axis and IndusInd. HDFC says the amount is reversed; AU says its ₹2 is not; other issuers do not say.

My card has lounge access but I was refused. Why? The most common reason is the spend rule: you did not spend enough in the previous quarter, so the swipe was declined. Other reasons are that the lounge is not on your card’s list (Axis and SBI Card have different lists for different card tiers), you used the card’s wallet token instead of the physical card, or you have used up the quarter’s visits. Check entitlement in the bank app or, for HDFC and AU, at lms.hoi.in before you reach the airport.

Can I bring a guest? Usually at a charge set by the lounge. ICICI and Kotak say complimentary access is for the primary cardholder only. IDFC FIRST Mayura gives one guest visit a quarter from within the card’s own quota. HDFC Infinia’s international guest fee via Priority Pass is USD 27 + GST, Kotak White’s is USD 35. No issuer document we read states a fixed rupee guest fee for domestic lounges.

Verification log (2026-09-14)

Fact check run on 14 September 2026 against the issuer documents linked under Sources. Nine claims were confirmed as written, six were disputed; five of those were corrected in place and one (the ICICI Emeralde row) was split, with the unverifiable part removed from the table.

Confirmed (9)

  1. DreamFolks NSE business update of 16 September 2025 discontinuing domestic lounge services (quote as printed).
  2. ICICI ₹75,000 previous calendar quarter rule effective 1 January 2025, with ₹2 authorisation and same or next day ticket or boarding pass.
  3. HDFC Regalia Gold: 3 visits per quarter, ₹60,000 rule from 1 July 2026, ₹2 swipe reversed, last month of quarter waiver.
  4. HDFC Infinia: unlimited for primary and add on, ₹2 Visa validation fee, Priority Pass guest USD 27 + GST.
  5. Axis: ₹50,000 in previous 3 calendar months from 1 May 2024, issuance month plus 3 months waiver, ₹2 Visa and RuPay and ₹25 Mastercard swipe, exemption list (Reserve, Burgundy Private, Olympus, Primus, Horizon, Atlas; Magnus not exempt).
  6. IDFC FIRST Wealth and Mayura: EliteAssist for domestic, DreamFolks portal for global, Mayura ₹20,000 previous month rule, Mayura 1 guest visit per quarter within quota.
  7. Kotak White: 2 domestic visits per quarter, ₹1,00,000 rule from 1 April 2026, 4 Priority Pass visits a year, guest USD 35.
  8. AU Zenith+: 4 per quarter, excluded from spend criteria, ₹4,999 + taxes waived on ₹8 lakh, ₹2 non reversible swipe.
  9. IndusInd: ₹2 Visa and ₹25 Mastercard swipe, spend based access from 1 April 2026 with the ₹1,50,000 April to June 2026 example.

Corrected (5)

  • SBI Card 10 January 2026 lounge PDF: PRIME variants are in Set A, not Set B (Set B holds SELECT, OCTANE and Club Vistara cards). Sentence rewritten in “What we could not verify”.
  • Axis lounge count: the “32 domestic departure lounges” figure was our own tally, not an issuer statement. Replaced with “11 entries under Set A, 20 under Set B, with heavy overlap” and a note that no issuer prints a total.
  • HDFC Infinia PDF date: the 30 Sep 2025 date appears only in the filename; the document body is undated. Issuer table source column now says so.
  • IDFC FIRST DreamFolks portal: the PDFs print webaccess.dreamfolks.in, which redirects to webaccess.dreamfolks.com. Step 5, the FAQ and the Sources entry now cite the .in address with the redirect noted.
  • ICICI FAQ answer aligned with the card table.

Removed from the table (1 row split)

  • ICICI “Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Emeralde Private Metal, Times Black, Diamant, Emirates Emeralde: Unlimited, primary and add on”. The ICICI Experience page states unlimited access only for Emeralde Private Metal, Diamant and Times Black, and add on eligibility only for Emeralde Private Metal. The row is now two rows covering those three cards. Emeralde, Emeralde Private, Emirates Emeralde and MakeMyTrip ICICI (all exempt from the ₹75,000 rule) moved to a “Not yet verified” note under the table and to “What we could not verify” until their key privileges pages are read.
