Frequently Asked Questions

How does this tool decide which card wins?
For popular cards, we maintain curated merchant-specific reward rates (e.g., HDFC Millennia gives 5% on Amazon). For all other cards, we use the base reward rate from our database. If a card's spending categories match the merchant you selected, we use the higher reward rate. The card with the highest effective reward percentage wins.
Why does my card show "base rate" instead of a specific rate?
We have curated merchant-specific rates for 40+ popular cards. If your card isn't in that curated list, we fall back to the card's published base reward rate from our database. The rate is still accurate — it's just not merchant-specific. If your card has spending categories that match the merchant, we'll use its higher reward tier automatically.
Can I compare more than 5 cards?
We cap it at 5 to keep the comparison meaningful. Most people carry 2-4 cards in their wallet. If you want a full side-by-side comparison, try our Card Compare tool.
Does this include fuel surcharge waivers and fee caps?
This tool focuses on reward rates per merchant. Fuel surcharge waivers, monthly caps, and minimum transaction requirements vary by card and are not factored in. Always check your card's terms for spend caps.
What about international spends — is forex markup included?
Yes. When you select "International", cards with zero forex markup get a bonus in the ranking because you save 1.5-3.5% on every transaction compared to standard cards. For a detailed forex comparison, use our Forex Savings Calculator.
