Best Credit Cards for Dining Out in India (2026): Ranked by What You Actually Save

By CardTrail Research · · Editorial standards

As of 2026-09-14. Every fee, percentage and cap on this page was checked on 14 September 2026 against the issuer’s own page, MITC or offer terms, or the co-brand partner’s official page where the issuer does not publish the number. Where we could not verify something from a primary source we say so in the “What we could not verify” section rather than guess.

Who this guide is for

This is for people who sit down in restaurants. If most of your food spend is delivery, read our Swiggy and Zomato cards guide instead. Dining out in India is rewarded through three very different mechanics, and the card that wins depends on which one you can actually use:

  1. Pay-the-bill discounts through an app. You settle the restaurant bill inside the EazyDiner app (PayEazy) or the Swiggy app (Dineout), and the bank knocks a percentage off. Only works at restaurants enrolled on that app.
  2. Cashback on the card itself. The Swiggy HDFC cards pay a flat percentage on any Dineout bill payment, capped per billing cycle.
  3. Bundled restaurant memberships. EazyDiner Prime is a paid membership (₹2,495 a year) that gives a guaranteed 25% off at 2,000+ premium restaurants. Some cards include it for a few months, then make you spend to keep it.

We ranked the cards by the rupee value of the card’s own dining discount at ₹8,000 a month, after the fee. We did not rank by fee tier, and we did not count reward points at guessed valuations.

The comparison table

The worked example assumes ₹8,000 a month of restaurant bills, split as four bills of ₹2,000, all at restaurants where the card’s channel (EazyDiner PayEazy or Swiggy Dineout) is accepted. Fees include 18% GST. The “Net annual value” column is the card’s dining discount over 12 months minus the fee you would pay in year one. A second scenario, two bills of ₹4,000, is in the ranking notes because per-bill caps change the answer.

Not in the table because we could not verify a live programme from the issuer: Axis Bank Dining Delights for regular cards, ICICI Bank Culinary Treats, SBI Card dining offers, Kotak dining benefits, American Express dining. Details are in “What we could not verify”.

Why the ranking looks like this

The Signature card wins on a ₹2,000 average bill because its monthly cap is ₹2,000 and its per-bill cap is ₹1,000. Four ₹2,000 bills at 25% is exactly ₹500 each, which fills the ₹2,000 monthly cap. That is ₹24,000 a year of discount for a ₹2,359 fee. If your bills are larger, say two bills of ₹4,000, you get ₹1,000 per bill and still hit the ₹2,000 cap, so the answer does not change. The cap rises to ₹5,000 in a month only if you spent ₹30,000 on non-dining transactions in the previous calendar month, so September’s non-dining spend unlocks October’s higher cap, not September’s. The 12-month Prime membership (₹2,495 if bought at EazyDiner’s current list price; IndusInd’s Benefit Guide values it at ₹3,550) roughly pays for the fee on its own, but we did not add it to the score because Prime is a restaurant-side discount that anyone can buy without a card.

The Platinum card is the best lifetime-free option, and second overall. 20% up to ₹500, three times a month, is ₹1,200 a month on ₹2,000 bills. On two ₹4,000 bills it caps at ₹500 twice, so ₹1,000 a month or ₹12,000 a year. The catch is the Prime renewal: you need ₹30,000 of total card spend every 90 days, and ₹8,000 a month of dining is only ₹24,000 a quarter. Put ₹2,000 a month of other spend on the card and Prime keeps rolling.

Both IndusInd cards only work at PayEazy restaurants. EazyDiner does not publish the count of PayEazy-enabled restaurants on its PayEazy page. If your regular places are not on it, the discount is zero. Check the app for your city before applying. This is the single biggest practical risk with both cards and we would rather say it plainly than bury it.

Swiggy BLCK is the best card if your restaurants are on Swiggy Dineout rather than EazyDiner. 10% with a ₹1,500 monthly cap means ₹8,000 of dining uses ₹800 of the cap, leaving ₹700 for delivery and Instamart. The cap is shared, so heavy delivery users will hit it. Ornge is the same mechanic at half the rate.

HDFC Diners Club Privilege gets the same Swiggy Dineout offer as any other non-Infinia, non-Diners Black HDFC card. The 10% up to ₹200, twice a month, is an HDFC-wide offer, not a Privilege benefit. A lifetime-free HDFC card would earn the same ₹4,800 a year. Privilege’s real dining hook was the bundled memberships, and after the May 2026 changes the base reward rate is 4 points per ₹200, with Swiggy One and Times Prime only unlocking on ₹75,000 spend in 90 days. It does not include EazyDiner Prime; an earlier version of our Swiggy and Zomato guide said it did, and that was wrong.

Diners Club Black Metal is not a dining card. Its Swiggy Dineout tier needs a ₹3,000 bill for a ₹400 discount, twice a month. At ₹8,000 a month the dining discount cannot cover the ₹11,800 fee. The card’s value is lounges, golf, the 5 points per ₹150 rate, 2X points on weekend dining (capped at 1,000 points a day) and the ₹1.5 lakh welcome memberships. If you want it, want it for those reasons.

About the original Swiggy HDFC Bank card. HDFC’s September 2026 MITC still lists it with a ₹500 fee and the ₹2 lakh waiver, and its T&C still says 10% on Dineout. But Swiggy’s own card page now shows only BLCK and Ornge, and HDFC’s March 2026 launch release for those two says existing cardholders “continue to enjoy” their benefits without saying whether new applications are accepted. We have listed it for existing holders only.

The membership question: is EazyDiner Prime worth more than the card?

Often, yes. Prime gives a guaranteed 25% off (deals up to 50%) at 2,000+ premium restaurants and bars. On ₹8,000 a month that is up to ₹24,000 a year of restaurant-side discount, for ₹2,495 if you buy the 12-month plan. That is larger than any card discount in the table except the Signature’s, and it stacks with the IndusInd PayEazy discount because the card discount is applied on the bill after the Prime deal.

So the honest advice is: decide whether you eat at Prime restaurants first. If you do, the Signature card is effectively “Prime for a year plus ₹24,000 of extra discount for ₹2,359”, and the Platinum is “three months of Prime free, then you earn it back with spend”. If you do not, ignore Prime in your maths entirely.

What changed in 2026 that older guides get wrong

  • Axis Bank Dining Delights was cut for regular cards. The Axis T&C for 1 August 2025 to 31 July 2026 gave retail cards 15% off up to ₹500 once a month on a ₹2,500 minimum bill. The Axis T&C for August 2026 lists only Magnus Burgundy, Reserve, Olympus and Burgundy Private (flat ₹1,000 off on a ₹5,000 bill, once a month) and the Burgundy debit card. We could not find a September 2026 Axis document, so Axis is out of the table.
  • HDFC Diners Club Privilege was repriced in May 2026. Reward rate moved to 4 points per ₹200 from 15 May 2026, and lounge access became spend-linked from 1 July 2026 (₹60,000 a quarter for 2 domestic and 1 international visits).
  • Swiggy HDFC became two cards. BLCK (₹1,000 fee, 10%) and Ornge (₹500 fee, 5%) launched on 12 March 2026.
  • The EazyDiner IndusInd Platinum moved to RuPay. IndusInd and EazyDiner announced a RuPay version on 7 August 2026, which means it can be linked to UPI apps. The announcement quotes “Rs 18,000 in annual extra dining savings” through the EazyDiner app, which is ₹500 three times a month, plus the 3-month Prime worth ₹1,095.

How to pick

  • You eat at EazyDiner Prime restaurants and spend ₹6,000 or more a month on them: EazyDiner IndusInd Signature. The ₹2,000 monthly cap fills on ₹8,000 of bills and the fee is recovered in six weeks.
  • You want zero fee and can live with three discounted bills a month: EazyDiner IndusInd Platinum. Put ₹2,000 a month of other spend on it so the Prime renewal condition is met.
  • Your restaurants are on Swiggy Dineout, not EazyDiner: Swiggy BLCK, as long as your combined Swiggy spend (dining plus delivery plus Instamart) stays near ₹15,000 a month, which is where the ₹1,500 cap bites.
  • You already hold any HDFC card: use the HDFCCARDS code on Swiggy Dineout for ₹200 off twice a month. Do not get Diners Club Privilege for dining alone.
  • Your bills are usually over ₹3,000 and you want lounges too: Diners Club Black Metal makes sense only if you value the non-dining benefits; the dining discount alone does not cover the fee.

What we could not verify

These are not in the table because the issuer does not currently publish the terms, or the last published terms have expired:

  • Axis Bank Dining Delights, regular cards (Ace, Neo, Select, Atlas, Magnus non-Burgundy). The last Axis T&C with retail tiers expired 31 July 2026. EazyDiner’s Axis page still shows “15% off up to ₹500” for other cards, but the August 2026 Axis PDF does not list it.
  • ICICI Bank Culinary Treats. ICICI’s programme page names Swiggy and EazyDiner as partners but gives no percentage or cap. The last dated ICICI offer we found (₹300 off on a ₹4,000 bill via EazyDiner, code CULINARYTREATS, Friday to Sunday, once a month) ran 1 June 2025 to 31 March 2026.
  • SBI Card dining. SBI Card’s dining hub advertises “minimum 15% off at 1,000+ restaurants in 12 cities” but the city-level terms did not load. The only SBI Card EazyDiner T&C we found was a Reliance SBI Card RuPay onboarding offer that ended 31 December 2025.
  • Kotak Mahindra Bank. Kotak’s credit card pages list no dining discount programme. The EazyDiner offers on kotak.com are for debit cards.
  • American Express. Amex has no card-wide restaurant-bill discount in India; its dining page lists merchant-specific “Amex Offers” (for example flat 10% to 20% at named Bengaluru and Delhi restaurants with dates in 2026). The Platinum Card bundles a 12-month EazyDiner Prime membership (enrol by 31 December 2026), but it is a premium charge card bought for other reasons, not a dining card.
  • EazyDiner IndusInd Platinum, “three times a month” and the BookMyShow buy-one-get-one. Both appear on EazyDiner’s card page and in the 7 August 2026 announcement carried by Business Standard; IndusInd’s own 2024 press release states the ₹500 discount and the Prime terms but not the frequency. IndusInd’s Platinum Benefit Guide PDF did not extract cleanly, so we did not cite it.
  • Reward point values. We did not convert IndusInd or HDFC reward points to rupees because redemption values vary by catalogue. IndusInd’s press release says “up to 2 reward points per ₹100” on the Platinum; the Signature Benefit Guide says 10 points per ₹100 on shopping, entertainment, hotels and travel, and 4 points on other spends except fuel and dining.
  • Swiggy HDFC Bank (original) availability to new applicants. See the note above.

FAQ

Which credit card gives the highest discount on restaurant bills in India? On the numbers issuers publish, the EazyDiner IndusInd Bank Signature card: 25% off up to ₹1,000 per bill with a ₹2,000 monthly cap (₹5,000 in a month if you spent ₹30,000 on non-dining transactions in the previous calendar month), paid via PayEazy in the EazyDiner app. The catch is it only works at PayEazy-enabled restaurants and carries a ₹1,999 plus GST fee.

Is the EazyDiner IndusInd Platinum card really lifetime free? Yes. IndusInd’s launch press release says no joining or annual fee, and the August 2026 RuPay relaunch repeats it. The dining benefit is 20% off up to ₹500 via PayEazy, and EazyDiner’s page says it can be used three times a month.

Does the Swiggy HDFC card give cashback on dining out, or only delivery? Both. HDFC’s T&Cs for the original Swiggy card, Swiggy BLCK and Swiggy Ornge all list Dineout alongside food ordering and Instamart. The cashback rate is 10% (original and BLCK) or 5% (Ornge), capped at ₹1,500 per billing cycle across all three categories, and you must pay the restaurant bill inside the Swiggy app.

Does HDFC Diners Club Privilege include EazyDiner Prime? No. HDFC’s May 2026 T&C lists Swiggy One and Times Prime as the memberships, unlocked on ₹75,000 net retail spend within 90 days of issue. It does not include EazyDiner Prime or MMT Black.

What is PayEazy and why does it matter? PayEazy is EazyDiner’s in-app bill payment. Bank discounts like the IndusInd 20% or 25% apply only when you pay the restaurant through PayEazy, not when you hand the card to the waiter. It is active for 5 hours after a reservation, and only at restaurants that have enabled it, so check your regular restaurants in the app before you apply for a card.

Can I stack an EazyDiner Prime discount with a card discount? Yes, on the IndusInd cards. Prime is a restaurant-side deal (guaranteed 25% off at Prime restaurants); the PayEazy card discount is applied to the bill you then pay in the app. HDFC’s Swiggy Dineout offer, by contrast, says it cannot be combined with any other offer.

Is Axis Bank Dining Delights still available on Ace, Neo or Atlas? We could not confirm it. The Axis T&C that gave regular cards 15% off up to ₹500 expired on 31 July 2026, and the August 2026 T&C only covers Magnus Burgundy, Reserve, Olympus, Burgundy Private and the Burgundy debit card. Check the EazyDiner app for your specific card before relying on it.

Corrected (3 items).

  1. EazyDiner IndusInd Signature monthly cap unlock. The draft said the cap rises to ₹5,000 on ₹30,000 of non-dining spend “in the month”. The Benefit Guide ties the additional ₹3,000 to ₹30,000 of non-dining spend in the previous calendar month. Fixed in the table, the ranking note and FAQ 1.
  2. Swiggy BLCK HDFC T&C date. The draft labelled the document “dated 04-03-2026” from the URL filename; the document header reads “Published on 07-04-2026”. Source relabelled. No numbers changed.
  3. “(Signature)” attribution on the IndusInd MITC and Benefit Guide. Neither IndusInd document uses the word “Signature”; both name the card only “EazyDiner IndusInd Bank Credit Card”. The variant name comes from EazyDiner’s own page. Source labels and the table’s card name now say so. Also footnoted: the Benefit Guide values the 12-month Prime at ₹3,550, while EazyDiner’s current list price, which this page uses, is ₹2,495.

Removed (0 items). No claim was found unverifiable in this pass; nothing was taken out of the table. The cards already excluded (Axis regular tiers, ICICI, SBI Card, Kotak, Amex) remain in “What we could not verify” for the reasons stated there.
